Foreword
"Photography - the art of immortalising the present. Or is it much more than that?
At Photography > MJC, we seek not just to capture the moment but to tell a story, fight for a cause, stir the heart and stimulate the mind for greater good like the works of W. Eugene Smith. We provide a platform for beginning photographers to pick up this skill as well as room for the more experienced to develop the art. So, come and be part of a dynamic team for an exciting journey ahead."

Our Teacher-Advisors, Mr Royston Cheng and Ms Ann Koh
Square Zero
The Photography club originally started out as part of the multimedia club when MJC was first founded in 2003. However, by 2004, the multimedia club split to form the Photography Club and the AVA club.

The Beginnings
The first 2 year after the founding of the Photography Club were rather uneventful mainly because of the large member populace and the lack of equipment and manpower to engage them. The 2005/06 executive committee, being the 1st exco, worked hard at improving the situation. One important step that they took was to pass on their skills and to the following batch of photographers through photographic outings and on-the-job mentoring. Never in their wildest imagination would they have knew that they were already laying down the foundation for a great future.
Foundation
2006/07 was no doubt a turning point in the history of the Photography club. When the 06/07 executive committee took over from the outgoing seniors, they recognized that more was needed to engage the members. The result of this was the creation of the club logo and its associated slogan. Along with that, came with the establishment of their business cycle and various exhibitions and projects. By the end of their term, the club expanded from 2 to 8 DSLRs, a handful of new lenses and 2 new studio lights.

Expansionary Years
The following batch of photographers proved to be equally successful, if not better. The 07/08 executive committee worked from the foundation their seniors left for them and improved the club further with an updated and now current logo. They also improved and expanded on many of the projects, which resulted in a substantial increase in revenue for the club. This increase in funding allowed for easier procurement of equipment and allowed the club to venture into the more experimental aspects of photography. The club also embarked in a pioneering overseas photographic trip to Perth, Western Australia. One of the more notable projects they started was the SPCA CIP project. Leveraging on their photographic skills, they managed to showcase the plight of the animals at the shelter which received much praise from the school population and the SPCA. They also managed to clinch the coveted Yip Hoi Kee school challenge trophy in the 2008 NUS Montage competition.
